Re: My new nightcore: Later When You
Okay, some feedback!
1. The audio quality is a little low, so make sure to find a good .mp3 to start with, and always save in high bitrate (256+ kbps) when editing/rendering.
2. The speed is about the same as what I would have chosen, so good job there! ^^
3. Put the full name of the original song somewhere in your video description/title/annotations. It gives artists the credit they deserve, it makes the record labels happier, and it helps when people want to find the original. In this case the full song name would be "Gabrielle Anderson - Later (Mainfield Remix Edit)".
4. Get the title right. The name of the song is just "Later" ;)
Looking forward to the next one!

Re: My new nightcore: Later When You
I also use WavePad and when Im saving I click on variable bitrate minimum bitrate: 8 and maximum bitrate 320 and for Quality 0 which is the highest. Thats what I do.StefanGhost wrote:WavePad or Audicity (it depends if im on my pc or laptop)HFU Nightcore wrote:which software do you use to make your nightcores? Re: My new nightcore: Later When You
I'd switch to using Constant Bitrate (320 kbps) instead of Variable Bitrate.
This won't make a difference in perceivable audio quality right away, but the lower compression will reduce damage caused to the waveform when the file is later transcoded during video rendering.

lol didnt know that, thanks for telling me.So I will use constant bitrate in the future.emilemil1 wrote:I'd switch to using Constant Bitrate (320 kbps) instead of Variable Bitrate.

Re: My new nightcore: Later When You
To clarify (in case you didn't read the entire Wikipedia page :P), this only matters if the original file you used is in 320 kbps constant bitrate. If the file is in for example 256 kbps, then that's the bitrate that you want to use when saving if you want maximum quality (without having to use a lossless format).
However, I'm not hardcore enough to constantly change my export settings, so I just tend to keep it at 320 kbps constant, since that's the format 99% of modern day music releases are in.

Just for the record, maximum YouTube audio quality is exactly the same as iTunes (~256 kbps M4A), so it's definitely not wrong in any way to rip from there. It's not the safest option however, since even 128 kbps MP3 audio will be converted by YouTube into ~256 kbps M4A, so you have no way of knowing exactly what you're getting.
This ~256 kbps M4A is not available for playback, so to rip it from a video you'll need to use a tool that can rip straight from the servers, such as youtube-dl. All streamed audio is in ~192 kbps M4A.
So basically only download from YouTube if you trust that the uploader have used a good quality file, otherwise you can never be sure.
Also, the quality will still not be quite as good as iTunes (or a 320 kbps MP3 from another store) due to damage caused by the uploader's/YouTube's transcoding, so it's usually best to only use YouTube ripping as a last resort anyway.
Re: My new nightcore: Later When You
I just download them all and check their spectrumgram with Audacity one by one. But usually the MP3s from MP3 sites are better. One source I haven't mentioned yet is Grooveshark, one great MP3 source with a downloader.emilemil1 wrote:(this post assumes that you've read what's said in the linked thread)hko2006 wrote:Quality mp3 hunting guide

Re: StefanGhost youtube channel :D
"... is the weekend" -> "Because it's the weekend" :)
The best way to do it is to just use your ears. If it sounds high quality, clear on the highs and lows, without artifacts, then it's fine to rip. A higher bitrate means nothing if it sounds worse to your ears.
This works for MP3 due to how the frequencies will be visibly clipped at bitrates below 220.5 kbps, but it won't work for M4A since it preserves those same frequencies much better. It also won't work for MP3 once the bitrate goes above 220.5 kbps.I just download them all and check their spectrumgram with Audacity one by one. But usually the MP3s from MP3 sites are better.

Since audio in YT is capped at 190 or 192 kbps so audacity is enough for the job. What software would you recommend to check the quality of high quality MP3/M4A?emilemil1 wrote:"... is the weekend" -> "Because it's the weekend" :)

Re: StefanGhost youtube channel :D
YT audio is always at ~192 kbps for streaming, but it's actually stored on the servers at ~256 kbps. Programs like youtube-dl (and probably many others) can download this higher bitrate version.Since audio in YT is capped at 190 or 192 kbps so audacity is enough for the job. What software would you recommend to check the quality of high quality MP3/M4A?
Here I've downloaded my latest upload and analyzed it with MediaInfo: http://imgur.com/uEeWDhh

I don't use software to check quality, i use my ears. The one that sounds better is usually the one that is better :)
